Tymad Salmon Quiche and Salad - Cebu and Beyond.jpg

Tymad Bistro is a restaurant that serves French cuisine. It sounds captivating, it looks great and actual French people visit and eat at this place, which is normally a very good sign. It is also an expensive restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Furthermore, they have cakes, desserts, lot's a crepe varieties, ice cream and really fancy entrees. Entrees can cost upwards of 300 pesos to 1,000 pesos. The crepes will be around 150 pesos to 250 pesos.

But to tell you very truthfully, this place has been going down in my opinion. I always enjoyed going to this place, because their food looks fancy, it's different and it tastes great but this time around, i was disappointed. We had a family lunch and unfortunately there was something wrong with almost everything that we had.

Starting from the very top picture to the bottom picture (5th picture).

Salmon Quiche, this was actually good and in my opinion, there was nothing wrong with it. This quiche was a play on the famous Quiche Lorraine, where instead of bacon and cheese, they changed it with salmon. Really good actually.

Below that, is the eggs benedict. English muffin with salmon covered with a poached egg. Unfortunately, the egg on top turned out hard boiled and wasn't really a poached egg. See, when you eat eggs benedict, the poached egg, when you cut into it the egg yolk needs to ooze out of it. It will then cover the english muffin and not make it too dry but will actually become a bit soggy or saucy. If the egg is not properly poached, the muffin becomes kind of tough and makes it difficult to eat. Dry egg, dry muffin. Very unfortunate, because i love this dish.

Below the eggs is the "Cotes De Porc Persillade" or in short, porkchop. This was a pleasant dish that was poorly executed. Everything on it was great, except the porkchop. The chop was overcooked and it made it chewy and tough. The rest though, was really great.

Next up is the "Croque Monsieur" roughly translated, it is Mister Crunch. Essentially, this is a ham and cheese sandwhich that has been covered in cheese, typically in either gruyere or emmental. It's

not hard to make this sandwhich. So obviously, there wasn't anything wrong with it.

Lastly, the Creme Brulee. I know that this is a difficult dessert. I have attempted and failed a couple of times. But the first time i had this here, it was like fireworks. Absolutely delicious. This time around, it was a bit thick and not very custardy. It should be soft, smooth and most importantly, creamy, and unfortunately that wasn't the case this time.

I will give the chef the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he was having a bad day, who knows. I would probably still come back again and give it another shot. Because i did have a perfect eggs benedict and a perfect creme brulee before.

The bistro is a pretty small place, i imagine it has a seating capacity of about 30 - 40 people. But they do offer quite a lot and their desserts look really, really good.

Furthermore, they also have two free items. Indeed very generous. They start off with a simple soft baguette that you may spread with butter. I believe they might even make the bread themselves but that is not a fact. Reason why i say this is because i think they also make their own croissants, which is pretty difficult to make.

Lastly, at the end of your lunch or dinner, they will give you some complimentary chocolate truffles. These are wonderful because they melt away in your mouth. They are really nice and a great note to end the meal.

They offer a free Wi-Fi and they have a flat screen television where they show mostly CNN or Discovery. So it's a pretty relaxing place. Furhtermore, they have a bunch of books that you can't read. Unless you know how to read French, they even have Le Parrain which is The Godfather. And if you know me, i am a huge gangster movie fan and Godfather ranks number one on my list, so it was nice seeing it there.

If you would still like to go here, by all means go ahead and try it. I do hope that the chef was just having a bad day and just made some mistakes. This is what i like to believe because i did have wonderful food here before. So, to find this place, don't look any further but scroll down and i will show you where to go.
