Cebu and Beyond

So why this site and who should read it? 

 

I wanted to create this site specifically for the people that will visit the city of Cebu. My goal is to upload content in a slow and steady way but still be able to provide adequate information about things you can do and most importantly, the things you can eat. That is for me, a big reason why i travel. So hopefully, this site will be able to help you on your journey in Cebu. I don't have everything here yet, but it is my desire to publish the most useful information and things you need while your are traveling to the island of Cebu. 

 

So what did i do in the past? 

 

Illegally, i worked as a bartender in a Mexican restaurant at the age of 14. I was making Mojitos and Margaritas that i myself was not allowed to drink yet, it was a lot of fun. After that, around the age of 16, i worked on the boulevard and served people ice cream and the best part for me, was the interaction i had with the customer. Then, i made the big step of moving to the Philippines. I was born and raised in The Netherlands and in the year 2007, i moved to the city of Cebu. I worked in the hotel for quite some time, primarily front office, guest services and concierge. And again, guest interaction was the biggest fun i had, it's one my biggest pleasures. Then, i got the opportuinity to work with Samaritan's Purse, a Christian relief organization and i helped the victims of the strongest typhoon that ever hit the Philippines, typhoon Yolanda or internationally known as Haiyan. And i am very grateful to have been a part of that and to be able to give my service to other people. 

 

While writing this, i have realized that i have always been in the service industry, i personally love hotels, i love being of service to people, i enjoy seeing other people happy. So about a year ago, the opportunity came along for me to start my own "hotel". In this case, something better. Vacation Homes. 

 

Some interesting things about me. 

 

1. I have a big customer service pet peeve. 

2. I am a bit crazy about Disney, me and my partner want to have a World Disney Trip one day. That means that we fly to all the places where there is a Disney Theme Park, in one vacation. I know, it's strange. 

3. I like to cook and bake and consider myself a graduate from the YouTube Culinary Institute. 

4. My favorite cuisine is probably Italian, and i think i make a pretty good gnocchi. 

5. I am a bit of a perfectionist, but thankfully not to the point of OCD. 

6. I am half Dutch and half Filipino. 

7. Yes, i am quite happy living in the Philippines. The only thing i miss occasionally about my country, is the cold weather.

8. I like adventure. My partner calls them insane and why would you do that to yourself?? But i really want to go skydiving, have an African safari, go into a underwater cage and feed a shark, bungee jumping, hang gliding, ride a hot air balloon, do a dive from a real high place and sit in a fighter jet while the pilot goes really fast and flips and spins me around! Whew, I realized that my partner, she might be right..

9. I also like doing impersonations and i think i have a radio voice. 

10. I hardly watch TV. If i watch, it's either a food channel, travel channel or a national geographic or discovery channel.
